We are always looking for new contributors!
If you are a student at any Memorial University campus, you are qualified to begin contributing to The Muse.
As students, we understand that many of us are busy, starting new journeys, and may not have experience in specific fields. This is why we have no limitations on who can join us. Your interest is enough!
Additionally, The Muse could act as a place for you to learn new skills and gain some resume-worthy experience in the media industry.
We will provide you with tips and tricks along the way, and our editorial staff will help you the best they can.
As a writer or contributor, you can cover a wide-range of topics, but our overarching focus is “by-students for-students!”
Want to Join the Muse?
The Muse is always looking for volunteers.
If you’re looking to build your skills in writing, photography, video editing, podcasting, or creating social media content, The Muse is the place to be. Volunteers will have the opportunity to put forth their own pitches for articles, videos, etc., that may align with their individual interests, or pick up ideas pitched by editorial staff.
As of Winter Semester 2026, meetings are every Monday from 5-6 pm in Council Chambers (UC-2001).
If you are interested in becoming a member, come to a meeting or reach out to editor@themuse.ca.
Submit an Opinion Piece
Opinion pieces, or ‘op-eds,’ are articles that present an argument based on facts, interviews, and/or research. Read this explainer, or check out our opinions section to help you get started.
Submissions can range from 300-800 words, and may be edited for length or clarity. The editorial team may provide guidance and feedback for pieces. Not all submissions will be selected for publication.
The Muse accepts submissions from MUN students, and generally does not publish anonymously. Please provide your student number in your submission. We ask that submissions be exclusive to the Muse. Submit your opinion piece to editor@themuse.ca.
