The Night Before makes for a hilarious Christmas movie

The Night Before: Starring: Seth Rogen, Joseph Gordan-Levitt, Anthony Mackie, Jillian Bell. 101 mins. Comedy.

If you’re looking for a new comedy to watch with family and friends around the holiday season, then director Jonathan Levine has just the film for you.The Night Before is a hilarious new Christmas comedy that takes many classic Christmas tropes and adds a hilariously inappropriate sense of comedy to them. Just by looking at some of the big-name cast members in this movie, you can tell the kind of film you’re about to see—I mean has Seth Rogen ever done anything age-appropriate?

The movie centers around three long-time friends spending their last Christmas Eve together in hopes of finding the ultimate Christmas party. Of course everything goes wrong and the night turns into a roller-coaster of emotions, drugs, fights, and more. The movie does a great job of creating that Christmas-feel but with a new and hilarious way. The story itself isn’t the most incredibly original or anything outstanding, but it is really good, and there are a lot of heartfelt moments hidden between the bits of stoner comedy.

Each of the main characters played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, and Anthony Mackie are well-developed and have their own individual stories throughout the film. The movie also does a great job at developing the supporting characters as well. With hilarious guest appearances from James Franco, Miley Cyrus and more, this film has an incredible cast and characters.

It may be a little too late to watch The Night Before before Christmas, but that shouldn’t deter you from watching this hilarious movie. If you are a fan of previous works from any of the actors involved, or films like Superbad, This is the End, and The Interview, then you’ll probably get more than a few laughs from watching this film. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys the inappropriate stoner comedy genre, but if you’re not a fan of dick jokes or drug usage in your movies, then this may not be the film for you. Being a fan of these kinds of movies myself, I really enjoyed it and would definitely see it again.
