Future students can expect a 50 cent increase in minimum wage by October 2015.
The provincial government has announced that minimum wage will increase by 25 cents by October 1, 2014, and another 25 cents by the following year. Currently, minimum wage stands at $10 per hour. This marks the first hike in minimum wage in the past three years.
The increase comes out of a government-appointment review panel. The panel originally recommended a minimum wage increase for 2013, as well as linking minimum wage to the Consumer Price Index.
Minimum wage in Newfoundland and Labrador will be reviewed again in 2015.Filed under News on Thursday, November 7th, 2013 at 6:15 pm.
